Allies is a local studio rooted in Belfast which focuses on innovative fearless designs on the bases of risk taking. A core element to this studio is that they aim to stand out, not follow trends to be able to grow as a designer and as a brand. Their graphic language and approach to design, clients and peers is confident and bold which has been inspiring to a junior designer beginning their career. Allies studio has worked with a range of clients including Nine Squared, Guinness, Amazon, The Dead Rabbit, Nellie Studio and more. When visiting Ulster University, several projects stood out to me such as Nine Squared due to their creative and concept driven outcome. Creating a refreshing, vibrant and welcoming brand offers a positive and strong connection for both consumers and clients. The illustrations also add an element of friendliness and familiarity which allows for a space that adapts, making this environment comforting and addicting.
Another innovative project was COAT’s signature tin styled as a handbag crashing London Fashion Week with “Carry Your Coat. This guerrilla styled campaign created a recyclable and sustainable yet cutting edge approach. This campaign was also shot in London which created authentic visuals with advertising and style working in harmony with each other. It is evident that this studio prides itself on fast paced and high energy designs, making them stand out and rewarded with high risk.
