For this project, the brief was to create a brand for the East Lighthouse site on Rathlin Island. During our visit, I was particularly drawn to the flora and natural surroundings, and how deeply connected the site felt to its heritage and community. This led me to base my concept of Rooted, on the idea that everything begins with what nature has already created; focusing on preserving the site rather than imposing something new.

The brand reflects the relationship between people and place, recognising how the community, visitors and caretakers help sustain the site’s history. I was especially interested in the symbolic qualities of the flora life, with themes of resilience and connection mirroring the character of the lighthouse itself. At the same time, the site aims to build a stronger social presence, so I explored how the identity could feel contemporary while still respecting its heritage. The final outcome balances both, using a refined visual language to communicate the story in a way that feels relevant yet grounded.
